    Kathyayini Chamaraj is a freelance journalist writing for more than 3 decades on development issues. She is also the Executive Trustee of CIVIC Bangalore since 2005, which works on the effective implementation of the 74th CA and on the Rights to Food, Health, Education, Housing and Social Security for the urban poor. She has worked extensively with Government of Karnataka on child labour and primary education. She is involved with several organisations and social movements, especially the Right to Food and Work Campaign. She is a recipient of the ‘Journalism for Human Rights’ Award for 1997 given by PUCL, and the ‘Bengalurean of the Year’ award for 2015 given by Namma Bengaluru Foundation, among others.

    Srikanth Narasimhan is Co-Founder & General Secretary of Bengaluru NavaNirmana Party (BNP), a new-age unique political party focused on Bengaluru and its Municipal Governance. Through BNP, Srikanth aims to build a citizen-participative & transparent model of governance at the city level. The Founder & General Secretary of Bangalore Apartments’ Federation (BAF), he built the largest citizen group in the country, which today comprises 850 apartment complexes in Bengaluru as members representing almost about 6 lakh citizens. Srikanth is extremely passionate about social & civic issues; he has brought in a lot of interventions in the areas of waste water management, water conservation, solid waste management, energy conservation etc., specifically relating to apartment communities.

    Srikanth is also an entrepreneur- the co-founder of Veda Corporate Advisors, a leading investment banking firm in India. Before co-founding Veda, Srikanth worked with Ernst & Young, ICICI Venture, TATA Motors and TATA Technologies. Srikanth has an MBA from IIM Bangalore and holds an Engineering degree from BITS Pilani.

Introduction to Area Sabhas

Bengluru NavaNirmana Party (BNP) and Habitat Forum (INHAF) invite you to a six-part webinar series, CAT in Municipal Governance being conducted between February-April 2024.

BNP’s model of municipal governance is based on three principals of C-A-T that is C- Citizen Participation, A- Accountability, and T- Transparency. Through the webinar series, BNP will present various aspects of urban governance which are being tackled by them innovatively. The six-part webinar series will provide insights on grassroots governance, sources of finance and apportioning, importance of Area Sabhas, and Ward Committees in allocation of funds and execution of projects, service delivery and analyze roots of misgovernance.
