Outreach and Collaboration
Habitat Forum (INHAF) is a non-profit Organization working on issues relating to Urbanization for over three decades. As part of its programme for climate action in Chennai (ClimACT-Chennai), INHAF is studying the history of Disasters that have struck the City over the past decade, with an emphasis on the impacts of the poor and vulnerable sections of the population.
The study looks at physical, economic and social impacts, at response by the authorities and other actors and at how responses, institutional changes and efforts at building long-term resilience have evolved over this period. The idea is to use this learning to inform measures that the City, and its many stakeholders, may take in the context of climate change which is changing and expanding the scope and impact of extreme weather on the City.
We hope to amplify the voices of vulnerable communities so as to promote participatory and socially just measures in official and other responses to climate change.
