INHAF’s idea revolves around unfolding the so-called ‘Vacancy Rate’ of houses and finding ways to bring the unused housing stock to productive use in cities.
In some Indian cities, it is placed at as high as 10 to 12 percent of the housing stock. This figure indicates the number of houses which are locked and remain unused as their owners are neither using them for themselves nor renting them out. This is a large number.
In order to understand the matter in depth, INHAF is in the process to develop workable strategies and construct an impactable advocacy agenda.
