SUMMARY:Connecting the Carbon Dots: Blueprinting Chennai’s 2030 Target
DESCRIPTION:Chennai faces a wide spectrum of climate change-induced challenges and issues. Chennai is ranked as the most socio-economically vulnerable city to climate change. Human interventions with a high carbon footprint have damaged the ecology of the city, leading to losses in the wetland ecosystems and biodiversity. Climate Action through a lens of Evaluating the Carbon Footprint is inevitable and also a priority.\nMuch of what Chennai faces is well-documented and debated. Imminent research has been undertaken, and actions conceptualized, yet, Chennai sits on the brink of climate change-induced tragedies. Recommendations have been made, yet, action has not been taken. The gap between conceptualization and action increases, though, at the cost of climate-vulnerable communities and biodiversity affected by the increasing carbon footprint. This webinar series aims to delve into outcomes and actions, to kindle and move along the conversation, and materialize on the ground.\nTo bridge the gap and connect the dots between the worlds of conceptualization and action, the first webinar series will outline the historicity of the carbon challenge in Chennai, and then map out specific actions that need to be taken, following the Plan-Do-Check-Act method.\n
